This piece is an homage to my fiancé and to the kind of man the world doesn’t always make space for.
Kindness, especially in Black and brown men, is often overlooked or misunderstood. The world can demand hardness from them, shaping how they are seen before they are ever truly known.
Through this piece, I wanted to offer a reminder that kindness is not weakness, but a strength.
This portrait is rooted in both love and truth, shaped by my experience of being loved well, and by the realities he has shared with me about navigating the world as a Black man.
This is for him and for every man who deserves to be seen fully.
